A couple of weeks ago, I stopped by the Dollar Store for the first time in years. I was surprised to see how many cute items they had!

Fall decor was starting to hit the floors, and I noticed these small pumpkins with clips on the back. I thought they would be perfect to add onto a garland, so I picked up a couple more items and went home to start creating.

All of the pieces I used to make this craft are from the Dollar Store — plus a few items I already had at home. It cost me $8, and I still had some supplies left over. This is such an affordable DIY! Get creative and enjoy this fun project.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

BURLAP LEAVES | PUMPKINS WITH CLIPS | METAL WORDS | JUTE TWINE | HOT GLUE GUN | SCISSORS | PAINT | PAINT BRUSH | CARDBOARD

HOW TO MAKE

Above, you will see all of the items I grabbed from the Dollar Store. I wasn’t sure how many of each I would need, but this was the perfect amount to make either one garland or one wreath.

Also, can we please talk about how much jute twine you get for a dollar? Like that’s crazy! I’ve already used it for other projects, too. Such a great deal.

These are the three metal words that come in one pack. I can’t wait to use these for other projects, as well. Big score!

When I picked up my supplies, I planned to either keep everything fall colored or try a black-and-white theme. However, I decided to keep things more calm and neutral to better blend into our home.

I painted the orange burlap leaves with white paint I had at home. I dabbed the color on with a sponge brush and let them dry for a couple hours.

I also painted the orange pumpkins a soft blue, then did a coat of white over the speckled white ones.

To start the garland, I cut two long pieces of twine and tied them to each end of the metal word.

The leaves and pumpkins can both be clipped right onto the string. Add them in whatever pattern you’d like! That’s all there is to it!

I also created a wreath to show another way to use these same products.

The amount of supplies I bought is not enough to make both, so plan to buy a couple more packs of leaves and pumpkins. This will ultimately depend on how many you use in each design.

I decided to make the wreath last minute but didn’t have a wreath base, so I made one out of some scrap cardboard. I actually think it worked really well!

Start attaching the leaves first, pinning them at the inner circle and letting the ends hang off the sides. To secure any loose leaves, add a couple dots of hot glue. Clip your pumpkins at the center, as well. Add your metal word and you’re all set!

What are you waiting for!? Go hit that dollar store and add your own flair!
