This was easily my favorite DIY so far this year!

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve shared some adorable Valentine’s Day craft ideas for your home. I thought it would be fun to create something a little different this time around, though.

As a child I loved making jewelry, especially bracelets! Browsing through the isles at the craft store brought me back to those times and made me so excited to get started again.

After getting a little inspiration in the jewelry isle, I decided to create pink sweetheart bracelets with sayings you would see on candy conversation hearts! There are so many cute phrases, but I had to pick out just four for this craft. Below, you can find a list of all of the other contenders. 😉

SWEETHEART SAYING IDEAS:

BE MINE, ME & YOU, LOVE BUG, YOU ROCK, XOXO, PUPPY LOVE, SUGAR PIE, KISS ME, GO GIRL, CALL ME, SWEET PEA, SOULMATE, LOVE YOU, DATE ME, CUTIE PIE, MY LOVE, ONLY YOU, HUGS, BFF, SWEETHEART, ALL MINE, GIRL POWER, LOVE YOURSELF, KISSES, UR CUTE, BEST BUDS, FOREVER, SWEETIE PIE, BESTIE

SHOP BEADS AND CORDING

Creating bracelets is pretty self-explanatory, but I do want to share some more information about how I made mine!

I used 8/0 Czech Glass Seed Beads in the colors Pink Ceylon, Metallic Pink and Crystal/Brown. The alphabet beads did not have a measurement listed, but I chose ones that were close in size to the seed beads, with the letters shown on all four sides.

For the cord, you can really use anything you desire — clear string, stretchy elastic, cotton thread, etc. I picked out this pink variety pack of 0.5mm waxed cord because they are easy to knot and the material holds up really well.

To give myself plenty of room to add beads and make the knots at the end, I cut each piece of cord at about 20 inches. I then played around with patterns and colors before sliding the beads on.

I added all of my beads onto the cord and then wrapped it around my arm to make sure the design was the length I wanted. Once I knew how many beads I needed, it was so much easier to make the next three bracelets since I could just count out the beads ahead of time.

To finish the bracelet I used a sliding knot. This was my first time ever making a bracelet with this knot, so I had to watch some YouTube videos, but I caught on super quick! It would be a little difficult for me to show the how-to in photos and I’m definitely not a pro, so I would suggest checking out tutorials online if you choose to use this knot.

Since I used waxed cord, I *safely* took a lighter to the ends of the knots to keep them from coming undone or fraying. Please only do this with adult supervision.

I absolutely love how these bracelets came out, not to mention I only used a small fraction of the supplies I bought. This would be a perfect and inexpensive DIY for birthday parties, making gifts or get togethers with friends!

Share your creations with me on instagram @ruffandrenew, I can’t wait to see you there!
