After the holidays, my favorite way to prepare for the new year is by cleaning and organizing my entire home!
While I organize often throughout the year, this time allows me to get rid of any unused holiday decor, make space for the new items I received over Christmas and start the year with a clean slate.
To help break down all of the spaces in your home, I put together a 31-day home organization calendar for the month of January, though you can start it at anytime. Each day you will focus on one area and purge, clean and organize that space.
SHOP ORGANIZERS
Before you start cleaning or organizing anything, go through the area you’re working on and get rid of any items that are broken, expired or just need to be thrown away. Donate unwanted but gently used goods to a local shelter or sell them on a platform like Facebook Marketplace.
Once you have decluttered the room or cabinet you are working on, thoroughly clean the entire space.
Now you can sort, organize and tidy everything up!
Use shelves, baskets, containers, labels and whatever else you may need to make a functional home. Remember, you’ll want to keep up with organizing these spaces in the future, so use a system that work best for you!
Take it one day at a time and download the calendar below to get started on your organizing journey!
