My husband and I love to do these little children’s crafts that you can find at the craft store, Dollar Tree or Target dollar spot. They are super inexpensive and allow us to spend an afternoon or date night together getting creative and having fun!
These mini projects are also great for creating seasonal decor on a budget. Grab your spouse, kids or some friends and start painting! When you’re done, create a garland to display your work!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
GHOSTS OR OTHER BLANK WOOD ORNAMENTS | TWINE | PAINT | PAINTBRUSH | STICKS
TIME TO CREATE
I snagged two of these ghost ornament packs at the Dollar Tree, each containing five pieces and twine. They do carry other halloween characters if you are wanting variation!
Everything else I had at home, such as paints, paintbrushes and two wood sticks. Paints and paintbrushes are usually less than a dollar at craft stores and you could either buy a wooden dowel rod or use a branch from outside!
Now it’s time to get creative! Acrylic paints go on so smooth and dry really fast on these guys, so if you mess up don’t worry it’s easy to fix (this was tested…by me…a lot).
Turn your ghosts into characters, themes, prints or patterns. Check out Pinterest for inspiration!
When you finish, use the twine to tie your ghosts to your garland. I wanted to try something different, so instead of making a string garland, I tied these guys to sticks that I painted black. I think it adds to the Halloween-ness and overall look!
And you’re all done! Hang these guys in a doorway, over a mirror or any other spot in your home where they’ll be adored all season long!
