I attended a live taping for The Voice Season 15, and it was seriously pretty awesome.

Today I’m going to share my experience with the entire process, which I hope can, in turn, help you know what to expect and have a blast like I did!

Please note that The Voice films at different studios depending on which stage of the show they are in. My experience may not be the same as yours. The most important thing is to follow the directions on your ticket. If you have any questions for your taping specifically, reach out to 1iota. This is more of a guide for people to get an idea of how it works before going to their own taping or just to read for fun 🙂

| HOW TO GET TICKETS

The company that distributes tickets for The Voice is 1iota. You will need to create a profile on their site before you request your tickets. This profile is where you will find your tickets once available and any additional forms or passes.

When I requested tickets for the live taping, we were immediately put on the waitlist. About two weeks later, we were notified via email that we had received tickets. Score!

We didn’t do anything special and were given priority tickets over general admission. On our ticket it states: Priority ticket holders in line by the check-in deadline will be the first ticket holders admitted. This refers only to admission, not seating.

1iota tickets were the most descriptive by far. They even had a section that states exactly what to expect and the breakdown of the days events.

The most important thing to note is that you should NEVER pay for a ticket. Make sure you are getting your tickets from 1iota.

| DRESS CODE, PARKING AND MORE

Your ticket will go over any information you need to be aware of. Make sure to print your tickets out at home.

PHONES: You will not be able to take your phone in to the studio or even through security. Leave it at home or in your car.

DRESS CODE: For the live taping, they wanted the audience to dress trendy. No shirts with words or logos; no white shirts; no baseball hats; or open-toed shoes. They do check at several times so there is no getting away with it.

PARKING: Where to park and any applicable parking passes will be provided with your ticket. Make sure to print passes if needed. Our taping was at Universal Studios, and they gave great instructions on our ticket with what specific garage to park in and how to walk to the check-in spot.

ID: You will need a drivers license or state-issued ID to enter.

| WHEN TO ARRIVE

Our ticket suggested arriving 30-45 minutes before check-in, but no more than 90 minutes. So we arrived about an hour early and were probably about 30 people back in line.

Also good to note, you are not guaranteed admission. You will need to follow the directions on your ticket. Even with a priority ticket, if you show up late, you will be admitted with the general ticket holders on a first-come first-served basis until they reach capacity.

| CHECK IN PROCESS

Each studio will have their own process for check-in. For The Voice at Universal Studios, our first stop was to wait in line in the basement of a parking garage. Sounds sketch, but it wasn’t too bad 😉

After about an hour, they moved the priority ticket holders through to the next area to line up before security.

At this point they went through and scanned everyones tickets and IDs.

We were given colored wrist bands as we moved through security. There wasn’t a method to who got what color. They do this so they can move large groups of people through the lot and studio easily and also help with seating efficiently.

Once we got through security, we were finally in our last resting spot for a while. We were provided bathrooms, seating and food trucks. I would say we were in this spot for about two hours.

| THE STUDIO AND SEATING

Finally, they started loading groups by color onto tour buses to be taken to the studio. Though I was in the first color group to go through security, we were one of the last groups to go.

Our ride was about 5 minutes, but it was like a mini backlot tour!

Once we arrived, they were eager to get us inside since the show was live at 5pm PST!

We were the last group to be seated. They tell you on your ticket that where you are in line does not determine where you sit — and I really think they were right about this one.

We ended up being seated towards the back of the stage, right behind the band. Initially we were all kind of mad being the only people in the studio that had “bad” seats, but it actually ended up being pretty awesome because we got to talk to the band. I mean, we were jamming with them! Haha!

| THE SHOW

Once we were seated, the MC came out and started to hype up the crowd, even throwing out t-shirts. He told us how the night was going to go and what they expected of us — clap, cheer and be over the top.

Shortly after, the show was starting! In the two-hour live taping we watched 24 performances. It was like being at a concert! All of the performers were great and the band was killing it.

Since this was the first live round, the only time we heard from the judges was a quick “what they hope their team accomplishes tonight” statement.

The two hours went by so fast and before we knew it we were leaving the studio! The waiting is always the worst part, but the show was so fun and so worth it! I would recommend going if you have a full day to spend there!

| SUMMARY OF WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. Expect to spend an entire day at the studio. Taping will take a few hours on top of the several hours before and after check-in.
  2. Be aware that you may not get a seat, even after waiting in line. Admission is first-come first-served, so follow instructions on your ticket and arrive accordingly.
  3. They want you to be over the top. You are there to create the atmosphere, so you will need to clap and cheer for everything and don’t stop until they go off air.
  4. There may not be any food or drinks provided. Make sure to eat before arriving to the studio. While we were provided a chance to buy food, the same may not be true for you.
  5. Have fun! All in all, it is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind experience that will make all the waiting and lines worth it!
