Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas crafts is this super cute and adorable mermaid scale ornament!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
PAINT CHIPS | SCRAP PAPER | WOOD CRAFT STICKS | PAINT | PAINT BRUSH | SCISSORS | TWINE | PENCIL | HOT GLUE GUN
HOW TO
- Trace a scale or scalloped pattern on the paint chips.
- Cut out each strip of scales.
- Start hot gluing the darkest color at the bottom first. Use a scrap piece of paper, cardboard or wood as a backing.
- Alternate the pattern so the bottom of one scale meets in-between the two scales below it.
- After gluing a couple of strips down, switch the next lightest color.
- Once all of your scales are glued down, use your scissors to trim any excess color off the sides.
- Cut wood craft sticks to the appropriate size.
- Use paint or stain to give the sticks some color to look like a frame.
- Glue the sticks to the top and bottom for a scroll type look or frame out the entire thing!
- Cut a short piece of twine and glue to the black for hanging.
- Your super cute mermaid scale ornament is all done!
