Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas crafts is this super cute and adorable mermaid scale ornament!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

PAINT CHIPS | SCRAP PAPER | WOOD CRAFT STICKS | PAINT | PAINT BRUSH | SCISSORS | TWINE | PENCIL | HOT GLUE GUN

HOW TO

  1. Trace a scale or scalloped pattern on the paint chips.
  2. Cut out each strip of scales.
  3. Start hot gluing the darkest color at the bottom first. Use a scrap piece of paper, cardboard or wood as a backing.
  4. Alternate the pattern so the bottom of one scale meets in-between the two scales below it.
  5. After gluing a couple of strips down, switch the next lightest color.
  6. Once all of your scales are glued down, use your scissors to trim any excess color off the sides.
  7. Cut wood craft sticks to the appropriate size.
  8. Use paint or stain to give the sticks some color to look like a frame.
  9. Glue the sticks to the top and bottom for a scroll type look or frame out the entire thing!
  10. Cut a short piece of twine and glue to the black for hanging.
  11. Your super cute mermaid scale ornament is all done!
