It’s day 3 of our 12 Days of Christmas crafts mini series!
For 12 days, I will share a short DIY tutorial with you that you can fully customize to your style and hopefully even use materials you already have at home!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
PLAIN STOCKINGS | VARIOUS COLORS OF YARN | NEEDLE | SCISSORS | CARDBOARD
HOW TO
- Find some plain white stockings. I used knit stockings, which added even more texture and made it easy to thread the needle and yarn through it.
- Start creating different patterns all over. Get as creative as you want!
- Finish your stitch by tying a knot on the inside of the stocking or under of the cuff.
WHITE, PINK AND GREEN WEAVING
- I did an easy weaving pattern on this cuff (seen in pictures above). You’ll need to stitch several long lines to start out.
- Using the white yarn, I started weaving over and under horizontally across the green yarn. Use a needle, it will go much faster!
- When you reach the end, you’ll turn and start your next line. You will need to switch your pattern at this point, going under then over now. Don’t pull your yarn too tight.
- About half way through, I switched to pink.
- At the end of each color tie a small finishing knot.
- To create the green loops, I again used my needle to thread through the weaving. Make sure to hold the loops in place until you make the next one so it doesn’t get pull and shortened.
- Tie a knot to finish this pattern!
GREEN TASSEL PATTERN
- Weave the needle through the knitting and pull up the yarn as you go to create a textured line. I did three lines of this.
- I then took a couple short strands of yarn and added a lark’s head knot to the pulls on the bottom line.
- Trim the tassels to make them all even.
PINK KNOTS
- Use your needle to loop the yarn around one of the stockings stitches.
- Repeat several times to create a little bubbled knot.
- Tie off the yarn ends with a knot.
GREEN POM POMS
- Using your hand or a piece of cardboard, wrap the yarn several times.
- Pull the wrapped yarn off and tie a short piece of yarn around the entire center. Make a secure knot.
- You should have two ends with a bunch of loops. Cut all of the loops open.
- You’ll now have a pom pom shape, just trim to even out the ends and create the round shape.
- Using your needle, tie the pom poms to the stocking and make a secure knot!
