After I made my first moss bowl centerpiece a few years ago, I knew right away I needed to also make a holiday version one day.

This DIY is so simple and so quick to put together — you’ll only need about 20 minutes! You can use any size or material for the bowl, just make sure to choose a skeleton that fits inside!

Supplies

BOWL | SKELETON | MOSS | PACKING PAPER OR NEWSPAPER | RIBBON | HOT GLUE

How to

Step 1 | Place the skeleton in the bowl. If you can’t find a neutral-colored skeleton that is the right size for you, just spray paint it!

Step 2 | Lightly crumple packing or newspaper and place it under the skeleton’s legs and any other nooks until the bowl is almost completely full. Lay one piece on top of everything so you have a mostly flat surface to work with. You don’t want to use more moss than needed, especially where it won’t be seen!

Step 3 | Place moss across the bowl and adjust the skeleton as needed. If you are using different types of moss, play around with the placement until blended.

Worried about the moss blowing around? Use a dab of hot glue to keep the moss in place!

Step 4 | For an extra fun touch, hot glue bows around the bowl!

I love how this moss bowl adds such a cute, spooky vibe to my home — a must-do for your Halloween activity list this year!
