What you will need

MOSS | BOWL | HOT GLUE GUN | NEWSPAPER OR FLORAL FOAM

How to make your moss bowl

  1. Find a bowl to use as your base. I bought this large concrete bowl at a vintage fair about a year ago and absolutely love the texture and shape.

You could easily use any type of bowl to match your style, though! If you can’t find one that you love or that is in your price range, grab a cheap one and DIY it with a stone or cement spray paint or even try the fun baking soda paint trick for that extra texture.

  2. Next, you’ll want to fill the bowl with some type of base like floral foam or paper. I forgot to grab the foam while I was at the store, so I just used some packing paper which worked out perfectly!

  3. Now it’s time to start placing the moss!

I used two packages of sheet moss — not the kind with the sticky back — and covered the paper completely. It actually stayed in place really well!

  4. After you get the base layer down, you can start adding in other varieties of moss. I used a bag of reindeer moss and just stuck it in random spots all over. Use a hot glue gun to help keep any empty spaces covered.

That’s it! This is a super simple DIY that is sure to make a super cute impact in your home. Play around with different designs and have fun!
