Spooky season is almost here!

Let’s kick off the start of fall with one of my favorite DIYs so far this year — these moody black butterflies!

I’ve always seemed to skip over Halloween in the past, unintentionally focusing more of my time on fall and Christmas. However, this year I want to make sure to give the spookiest of holidays all of the attention.

This DIY is an incredibly simple one, but I think it makes the biggest impact on your space! All you will need are some butterflies, black paint and a wall tape of your choice.

I found these plastic, paper-like butterflies in the floral section of the craft store. They came in a box of 10 with varying sizes included. These were actually the perfect material allowing me to easily paint each one, but still remain light enough to hang on the wall.

I painted each one individually with black acrylic craft paint, only taking about 20 minutes to do all 60 butterflies I brought home. Once everything dried, I used basic Scotch tape to attach them to the wall, though I will likely get double sided wall-safe tape or dots to attach the remaining butterflies that still need a spot in my home.

These butterflies look amazing and just how I had been envisioning for months. They would look good anywhere in your home or even as a display for a party — really, there’s no place they wouldn’t bring out a fun and spooky vibe.

I’m already planning on adding more of these Halloween-ified butterflies to my home, so make sure to check back soon for more spooky DIYs!
