I have another simple-but-creative Valentine’s Day DIY for you all!

A few weeks back, I spotted these super adorable ceramic houses in the Hobby Lobby clearance section and thought it would be so cute to spice them up for the holiday.

Like the mixed media letters I made the other day, I wanted to have fun with it and decorate these houses with scraps I had from previous projects. So, I pulled together some yarn, scrapbook paper and paint and started creating.

Below, I’ll share how I decorated my Valentine’s Day houses so you can use it as inspiration for your own!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

CERAMIC/WOOD HOUSE | PAINT | SCRAPBOOK PAPER | GLITTER PAPER | YARN
PAINTBRUSH | HOT GLUE GUN | SCISSORS

HOW I DECORATED MY HOUSES

I found these ceramic houses in the Hobby Lobby clearance section, but paper mache or wood houses would work just as well. Old Christmas village pieces that you no longer use would also be perfect for this craft.

I started this project off by painting the houses a lighter pink. I used Anita’s Acrylic Craft Paint in Pastel Rose for the base and then added some extra detailing with the color Rosy Mauve. I loved these colors together!

For the windows and doors, I cut out some fun patterned and glittered scrapbook paper and hot glued them on. I also used some of the glittered paper on the roof for some extra sparkle.

I then placed pieces of yarn all over, using different textures and thicknesses. This really made these little Valentine’s Day houses pop!

This project was so simple, yet it leaves so much room for personalization. I may just have to make these every holiday! Make sure to share your Valentine’s Day homes with me on instagram @ruffandrenew. I can’t wait to see what you create!
